I would like to share my related experience with you though I am also experiencing this issue. I have several of the cas and have tried to avoid this with no success. I removed the affected nodes and re included them followed by several system wide optimizations, but after a few days the problem starts back up again. I also noticed that the problem spreads to the other switches over time and some switches stop responding to commands. A call to intermatic has not provided any insight as to why this happens.
In fact, I had a hard time finding anyone with any knowledge of the ca and none could tell me what the status lights mean or what triggers them I had one that flashed red and was unresponsive I wonder if their is some proprietary Comms it expects to get from the primary controller. I recently received a ca primary controller and will attempt to rebuild the network using it as primary and my zstick as slave.
I am less than optimistic about the potential success of this approach, since I will also need to interface with other brand zwave thermostats, etc , but will give it a shot. I hope someone else in homeseer land can shed some useful light on this subject.
